In a nutshell – exceptional abilities of young children need to be nurtured, so they can transform into talent. If this doesn’t happen, gifted individuals will be at risk of underachievement (Gagné, 2012)

This section provides information and resources to support those working in Early Childhood Education (ECE) settings to identify gifted children and adapt programmes to suit their particular learning, social and emotional needs. Young gifted children can be defined as having exceptional abilities or qualities in relation to their same age peers. These abilities or qualities may be demonstrated across a range of areas, including intellectual, creative, social /emotional, perceptual and physical.
